Note: For participants of this workshop, here’s the presentation: Hands on MINDS on Final
I’m excited to announce a new workshop that I’m leading at The Future of Education Now Conference (#FOEN2019) at Western Academy of Beijing. It is one based around some my recent explorations in cognitive science research, and creativity & design.
It also includes some new theories and research to explain the role of play in schools (See: Help! I’m Trying to Teach My 9-Month-Old How to Crawl and it isn’t Working).
The description can tell you more about the workshop, which I hope will peel back the layers and present research findings on play, behavior, and cognition for elementary-aged students and beyond:
Schools are rapidly moving towards play-based learning to prepare students to face a world of ill-defined problems. But it’s all too easy to be fooled into believing that your students are cognitively active (minds-on) simply because they’re behaviorally active (hands-on). Let’s get kids thinking!
It would be remiss of me not to pass on the information that Dr. Jane Goodall is speaking at WAB, so here’s probably my only chance in life to write this true sentence: Zach Groshell and Jane Goodall are presenting at The Future of Education Now Conference in Beijing.
See you there!
